Norma Geans BBQ Station is probably one of the best-kept secrets around. It became a reality in the mid 1980’s but never really got its name until early 2005. Bill or “Burgie” (nickname), Norma Gean’s husband was in the Petroleum Transportation industry when his Brother-n-law introduced him to a gentleman by the name of John Beard. John had built a BBQ Train for Country Western Star Buck Owens and showed him a picture of it. Burgie who was very impressed with the BBQ Train decided he would like to have one of those BBQ Trains like “Buck”, but a little bigger. By the time it got around to building it John was building some other BBQ Trains so a man named Garrett and “Burgie’s” Brother-n-law Newlin Tootle started building the BBQ Train which was designed after a 1898 General Locomotive. Seven months later it was finally completed and ready for the first test. The first test was for some homeless folks where they Barbecued 450 ½ chickens. Everything went great, but they had a lot to learn. Burgie had always loved to BBQ and Norma Gean was determined to make some seasoning and rub that would capture the taste buds of every tongue it touched. She developed the seasoning and rubs from recipes she had gotten from relatives from her home State of Oklahoma.
